Northern Mindanao to get minimum wage increases in January 2025
MANILA, Philippines – The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) affirmed the daily minimum wage increase of P23 for private sector workers in Northern Mindanao and P35 for those in the agriculture sector in the region.
The increases bring minimum wage rates in Northern Mindanao to a range of P446 to P461.
This will “effectively eliminate the sectoral rate differentiation between the non-agriculture and agriculture sectors reflecting the Board’s ongoing efforts to streamline its wage classification structure,” NWPC said in a statement on Thursday, December 26.
The provinces in Northern Mindanao are Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental.
NWPC also affirmed the P1,000 monthly increase for domestic workers in the region.
The wage orders will be published on December 27, and will take effect on January 12, 2025.
Domestic workers in Metro Manila too
Meanwhile, domestic workers in the National Capital Region (NCR) will be getting a P500 monthly increase, too, bringing their monthly minimum wage to P7,000.
The wage order for NCR was published on December 19 and will take effect on January 4, 2025.
NWPC said the wage hikes in 2024 directly benefits 4,907,584 minimum wage earners in the private sector. A total of 717,508 domestic workers across nine regions benefit from the wage hikes.
7,528,968 full-time wage and salary workers earning above the minimum wage may also benefit indirectly from these increases due to upward adjustments. – Rappler.com
