United have major interest in signing 'world-class' £61m star, 23yo could be swapped - report
Manchester United have had a disappointing first half to the season and they are stranded 13th in the Premier League with only 22 points on the board.
The club are already nine points adrift of the final Champions League spot and need a huge turnaround over the coming months to finish in the top four.
Manager Ruben Amorim could be handed a small budget to reinforce the squad in January, but any major transfer business could be delayed until the summer.
Calciomercato now claim that Juventus are interested in bringing Joshua Zirkzee back to Serie A following his frustrating start to his career with the Red Devils.
United are likely to demand at least £32 million plus bonuses at the end of the season, but it is reported the Bianconeri could face competition from rivals Napoli.
The Red Devils have a ‘strong interest’ in signing Victor Osimhen, and it is highlighted that Napoli have an ace up their sleeve to facilitate the transfer of Zirkzee.
Zirkzee could be swapped for Osimhen next summer
Zirkzee has had a tough start to his United career. The 23-year-old has registered just four goals from 23 outings.
In comparison, Rasmus Hojlund has netted seven goals from 20 appearances, but the Dane has also been highly inconsistent leading the line for the Red Devils.
United need an experienced upgrade, and Osimhen would be perfect. He has 12 goals from 15 appearances in his ongoing loan stint with Galatasaray.
The Nigerian star, who was described as ‘world-class‘ by manager Jose Mourinho, averages 1.9 shots on target per league game.
This is significantly more than Hojlund and Zirkzee have managed this term (0.4 & 0.5).
Osimhen may not receive the same service at United, but the 25-year-old has a goalscoring instinct and would be a superb acquisition for the number nine role.
Napoli are holding out for his £61 million release clause, but United could significantly lower the fee with Zirkzee moving the other way. Manager Antonio Conte is a huge admirer of him.
