Tottenham Hotspur have learned that they could face a massive transfer battle with Manchester United to sign one of their top full-back targets – Patrick Dorgu.
Patrick Dorgu is on Tottenham’s wishlist
Patrick Dorgu has emerged as one of the best wing-backs in Serie A and has even been impressing further forward for Lecce this season.
Spurs are said to be big fans of the 20-year-old, with some outlets over recent months even installing the Lilywhites as favourites to land the player.
The Denmark international’s displays have reportedly also caught the attention of the likes of Juventus, Napoli and Chelsea.
Man Utd could make advances towards Patrick Dorgu
GiveMeSport reveal that Man Utd have now begun exploring a move for the left-back and are looking to leapfrog others in the race for the youngster.
The report also mentions Tottenham’s interest in Patrick Dorgu but primarily focuses on the Red Devils’ pursuit of the player, explaining that Ruben Amorim is a fan of his versatility.
Further, it is suggested that the Manchester club have been given optimism about their chances of reaching an agreement as the Denmark international is expected to jump at the chance to move to Old Trafford.
However, it is made clear that United are yet to finalise their decision on whether to push ahead with an offer for the Serie A man.
Lecce’s and Dorgu’s stances revealed
GiveMeSport point out that Lecce are well protected from Tottenham and Man United since Patrick Dorgu is contracted to the club until 2029 and they are expected to ask for a sizable fee.
The Italian club are reportedly ready to entertain offers of around £30m mark as long as the structure of the deal meets their requirements.
However, there is said to be an awareness at Lecce that it would be difficult to stand in his Dorgu’s way if Man Utd came calling, with the left-back’s representatives making it clear to the club that he would walk away if a suitable opportunity arises in January.
