Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck aren’t ending the year the same way they began, but it looks like their friendship is going to stay strong. The former duo kept in the holiday spirit with a friendly lunch — and there’s even a surprising twist to this story.
Lopez and Affleck were spotted at the private club, Soho House, in West Hollywood on Sunday, Dec. 22, according to the Daily Mail. The media outlet shared that not only did they enjoy a meal together, but they also exchanged Christmas gifts. Lopez looked comfy and cozy in an oversized black-and-white print cardigan and wide-leg jeans. Affleck looked casual in his blue sweater and black pea coat worn with well-loved jeans. He was seen carrying a bag of items as he left the exclusive spot, so that might have been the gift he received from J.Lo. It really is an amicable Hollywood divorce.
Just last week, Page Six shared that the dynamic duo’s “connected” friendship would last despite the end of their romantic situation. “They have every intention of continuing to be in each other’s lives despite not being romantically involved,” the insider explained. “Ben and Jennifer are still connected, and they do communicate when it involves their kids.”
Besides the blended family connection, their professional association also continues. In addition to producing Lopez’s current film, Unstoppable, Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company is on board for her highly anticipated movie musical, Kiss of the Spider Woman, which will make its debut at Sundance in January.
Even though their friendship will endure, their divorce hasn’t been settled. They are using high-powered Hollywood divorce attorney Laura Wasser to mediate the financial details. Lopez and Affleck did not have a prenuptial agreement, and their $68 million Beverly Hills residence is still up for sale. Lopez is currently living in it while Affleck has relocated to the Pacific Palisades in his new $20.5 million estate.
It’s hard to believe that Bennifer 2.0 kicked off the year with The Greatest Love Story Never Told and ended 2024 in divorce. But some of Affleck’s hesitations were seen on-camera and his words are somewhat haunting now. “I did really find the beauty and the poetry and the irony in the fact that it’s the greatest love story never told,” he said in the film. “If you’re making a record about it, that seems kind of like telling it.”
The next stage for Lopez and Affleck is friendship, not romance.
