As a model I’ve tried every beauty tip – my 5 instant glow-ups all cost under a tenner, go to your brows on an ugly day
AS a model, Alia has tried just about every beauty hack and tip in the book.
Through trial and error, she has discovered a handful of game-changing tricks that are simple, effective, and budget-friendly.
Best of all, each of these tips costs under a tenner and can be done in just a few minutes.
And so she decided to take to TikTok page ‘alia.abk’ to reveal her top five beauty tips that have made a dramatic difference in my appearance.
She says: “I’m not going to share anything expensive, anything crazy. These are all things you can do in like 5 – 10 minutes that will make a huge difference.
“Number one that I actually learnt in one of my first photo shoots is to wax your sideburns.
I hate to say it, it made a really big difference, especially in my confidence.
“When I would tie my hair back, it would look super, super smooth. I noticed that it really highlighted my jawline and it made my face just look a lot more sharp for some reason.”
Her second tip is threading eyebrows.
She says: “If I ever, ever feel ugly, all I have to do is book an eyebrow appointment.
“Brows genuinely shape your entire face. It’s crazy how big of a difference that they make.
“That’s why whenever someone wants to thin out their eyebrows, I literally cringe.
“It’s going to make your face just not look right. I don’t think anyone suits thin eyebrows.
“I’ve never seen it look good. You can change my mind, but I’ve never, ever seen it look good.
“I think defined, arched, nice eyebrows that suit your face look incredible and they make the biggest difference.
“Also, cleaning up your eyebrows in the end, I find, makes your face just look a lot more lifted.
I looked super pale. Even in Dubai, I felt like my face in the wintertime would lose definition

“So 100%, if you’re ever not feeling good, you want a little bit of a quick glow-up, do your eyebrows.”
Her third tip, which is her “favourite” is tan contouring.
She says: “So when I was in uni, I always found that I got very pale. I went to uni in Scotland.
“I looked super pale. Even in Dubai, I felt like my face in the wintertime would lose definition.
The beauty product which is 'key to Kate Middleton's glow'
WHEN your schedule is as busy as Kate’s, making the most of your beauty sleep is vital for maintaining glowing skin.
She is known to make her skincare products work overtime when she’s catching Zs by lathering up in elixirs.
Insiders claim that the Beuti Skincare Beauty Sleep Elixir is her go-to, and she keeps a stash of bottles on her nightstand.
The £47 product contains 14 plant-based oils that slow down the enzyme responsible for ageing and prevent the breakdown of collagen, the protein in our skin that stops it from sagging.
Collagen gives skin a plump appearance but starts deteriorating in our mid-20s, so Kate is beating the natural ageing process by delaying how quickly it breaks down.
“So if you want that sculpted look, like cheekbones, very defined face, but you can’t really do it, but your natural face shape maybe doesn’t look that way, or you have a more chubby round face, what you’re going to do, you’re going to go on Amazon or you’re going to go to your nearest supermarket.
“You’re going to get a small bottle of fake tan,
“The biggest difference that it made was on my lips. I would kind of draw on like a little Cupid’s bow and everybody was like, oh my God, did you get lip filler? I was like, no.
“So trust me, I’m going to make a whole other video on this because this is my favourite, favourite thing to do. But trust me, please do this right now.
“If I wanted an instant glow up, I would do that.”
Her fourth tip is corner lashes.
She says: “I’m going to show them right here. Brush them to the end of your eyes and they make your eyes look super long.
“Overall, it just elongates the eye and I think it also adds a very sexy, subtle look.”
Then her fifth tip is watching lymphatic drainage tutorials on YouTube.
She says: “Go to YouTube, type in facial lymphatic drainage. I do this every morning.
Biggest beauty mistakes
Fabulous' Beauty Editor Tara Ledden has shared the do's and don'ts when it comes to beauty.
“No matter how much time and money you spend on your beauty routine, if you’re not getting the basics right, the rest is wasted.
“There aren’t many non-negotiables, but these are the biggest beauty mistakes sabotaging your regime.”
- Not wearing SPF: Sun-damage is the main cause of premature skin ageing, so if you want to keep your skin looking plump and glowing, sun cream is vital.
- Using expired products: Best case, they’re ineffective and don’t deliver the results they promise, worst case they cause irritation and infection. The shelf life of beauty products differ – for example, mascara is usually good for 3-6 months while lipstick can last for 9-18 months. Check the ‘POA’ symbol on the packaging (it looks like a jar and will have a number inside for how many months it’s safe once opened. If you can’t remember when you opened your product, throw it away and start again, marking the month and year with a permanent marker on the packaging.
- Not knowing your undertones: If you’re using make-up with the wrong undertones, it’ll never look natural no matter how much you blend it! An easy trick to work out whether you have cool, warm or neutral undertones is to check the veins on your wrist – if they look blue, you have cool undertones, if they’re green, you have warm and if they’re a mix you have neutral.
- Skipping heat protector: It might feel unnecessary, but much like sun damage on the skin, excess heat is the most common cause of hair damage. So, if you want shiny, healthy hair, or you’re trying to grow it longer, using a heat protection product is key.
- Not washing your face before bed: it’s as simple as this, if you’re not washing your face before you go to sleep, everything that’s been on your skin during the day is sitting there for even longer, clogging your pores and drying out the surface. Any skincare applied on top isn’t going to be effective with a layer of dirt underneath, and you’re probably going to end up with dirty pillows too – yuck!
“I put on my moisturiser and then I take my fingers and I literally just sculpt my face.
“It basically removes the water retention in your face. Also do it on your collarbones.
“So trust me, do it for a couple of days and you’re going to see a huge difference in the way that your face holds puffiness and water retention.
“It’s going to drastically go down.
“Also, of course, managing sodium, especially before bed, is going to make a huge difference.”
