Large water main break floods Southwest Portland street, prompts traffic closures
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A large water main break flooded a Southwest Portland street early Sunday morning, officials said.
According to Portland Water Bureau, the break occurred at around 4 a.m. at Southwest 1st Avenue and Arthur Street.
Crews were able to stop the water flow and they are now working to find the exact location of the break so they can replace the damaged main, officials said.
However, due to flooding, the bureau says the intersection is closed going eastbound on Naito Parkway/Highway 26 and they "currently anticipate that only one lane of traffic going north on Southwest 1st street will remain open."
Officials said no one's water supply was affected by the main break.
The cause of the break has not been released at this time.
