2 Batavia officers assaulted during 'mental health incident,' police say
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Two Batavia police officers were hospitalized after they were hurt while responding to a call Saturday morning.
According to the Batavia Police Department, the officers were called to check out a "mental health incident" on Trumbull Parkway around 11:39 a.m. While on scene the two were assaulted, police announced. What led up to the incident remains unclear, BPD stated that additional details will be released at a later time.
The officers were hospitalized, treated then released. The suspect, whose identity was not released, was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. The suspect is expected to be charged upon being released. The extent of the suspect's injuries is unclear. The investigation continues.
