Woman reveals clever ‘hot cup’ trick which is gamechanger for ear popping on flights
A TRAVELLER has revealed their clever ‘hot cup’ trick which could prove a gamechanger in popping your ears while on flights.
Last year, more than 11 million Brits went abroad — and even more of us are expected to travel this year with some facing the ear-popping issue.
Everyone wants their flight experience to go smoothly[/caption] Ears that don’t pop can make your flight a painful experience[/caption]In a post to social media, the woman revealed she had been suffering from an extreme pain after her left side had not popped.
In the post, she said: “When the flight attendant sees you struggling & saves you with a ‘hot cup’, because you thought your ear drum was going to explode.”
She revealed in a follow-up clip after she had landed that the method sees you put a tissue inside the paper cup, followed by a little bit of boiling water.
The cup is then held to the problem ear with the steam and warmth helping to relieve the pain in the drum.
But the woman said: “I still cannot hear, I think I did rupture my ear drum but it did relieve my pain as we were coming down to land.
“I will be going to the doctor though as I still cannot hear out of that ear.”
Commenters revealed they had used the trick to a lot of success.
One said: “Hot cup hack saved me on a flight to Cancun.”
Another posted: “I’ve been furiously chewing and pretending to yawn during landing for years…might have to try this next time.”
A third wrote: “I’m seeing this having a really bad cold with so much pressure in my head and ear and a slight fever and I’m supposed to fly to Barcelona on Monday.”
But those who want to try the ear popping hack should ask flight attendants for the kit to do the tip.
Packing certain items in your case could land you in hot water so it’s best to get that from the plane.
The tip comes after experts have revealed five travel tips to avoid missing your flight home for Christmas.
They include checking what festive items might be banned from flying, making a detailed list so you don’t forget anything, and trying to get plenty of sleep.
And you can continue to get last-minute travel gifts just in time for Christmas.
They include vouchers for great experiences like wine tours, gin making, and helicopter rides.
