Koji Gibson Commits to Northern Michigan University
Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers are proud to announce that forward Koji Gibson has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey at Northern Michigan University. This milestone marks a significant step in Gibson’s hockey journey and highlights his dedication, perseverance, and hard work.
“As an organization, we are proud and thrilled for Koji’s commitment to Northern Michigan University,” said Lukas Lomicky, Head Coach of the Vernon Vipers. “Koji is a dedicated and extremely hard-working kid, and this is just another step towards his ultimate goal. In the meantime, we look forward to working with him to help him be ready for that step when the time comes.”
Gibson, a native of North Vancouver, BC, has had a strong rookie season in the BCHL, recording one goal and two assists in 16 games. Known for his relentless work ethic and commitment to growth, Gibson’s efforts have not gone unnoticed by his coaches, teammates, and now, Northern Michigan University.
“I am so grateful for the opportunity to play Division 1 hockey at Northern Michigan University,” said Gibson. “I would like to thank my family, coaches, and teammates for this opportunity.”
Northern Michigan University’s hockey program competes in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) and boasts an impressive history, including one national championship and three Frozen Four appearances. The Wildcats play their home games at the Berry Events Center in Marquette, Michigan. Notable Vernon Vipers alumni who have played for the Wildcats include former Vipers captain Connor Marritt and Anthony Cliche, further strengthening the bond between the two programs.
