'Where is Clemson even from?': Fans gather in Austin for Longhorns' win
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A bunch of firsts Saturday for the University of Texas at Austin Longhorns. Fans turned out to create a sea of burnt orange at popular West Campus spot Victory Lap.
"I was not prepared for the people that were going to be in town," bartender Victor Tremblay said. "Campus has been dead for over a month so it's nice to see some life on campus."
That energy rippled across the city from fans of all ages.
"Most of us are riding high," one fan told KXAN outside the stadium. "Last year was good, but years before that we were struggling, so it's good to see playoff football back here at DKR."
Another fan told us he was "really scared about what's going to happen." But what did happen ended up being a 38-24 win for the team.
"Clemson, you're going home with a big 'L,'" said one fan said at Victory Lap.
Something echoed by a lot of people was that they were happy with what happened during a rare December home game.
"I mean, where's Clemson even from," one fan asked. "Is it North Carolina? Or South Carolina? I'm not sure."
Georgia is now on the mind for many -- the Longhorns will play against the Arizona State Sun Devils on New Year's Day at the Peach Bowl. Prices for the bowl game vary. As of Saturday evening, resale tickets began at $120 but surge up to upwards of $2,000 depending where you want to sit.
