Pilot identified of plane that landed on Thruway
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- New York State Police have identified the pilot of a small twin-engine plane that landed on the Thruway on Friday. Police said Logan M. Steed, 19, of Winnsboro, South Carolina, landed the aircraft on the northbound lane near Exit 23 in Albany.
Police said Steed and the passengers, Steven D. Strunk, 54, and April D. Strunk, 52, both from Mount Perry, Ohio, were not seriously injured. Steed realized he wouldn't reach the airport's runway because of mechanical issues.
Steed performed an emergency landing at 12:43 p.m. after experiencing engine trouble. The New York State Police and the FAA are investigating the landing.
