Washburn professor, wife killed in Brown County crash
TOPEKA (KSNT) - A Washburn University professor and his wife were killed in a Brown County crash Friday morning.
Dave and Marcia Provorse were traveling south on U.S. 75 when they were t-boned by a semi that blew a stop sign, according to the KHP crash log. It happened around 8:00 a.m..
Washburn provided the following statement from president JuliAnn Mazachek:
The Washburn community is heartbroken over the tragic loss of beloved psychology professor Dave Provorse and his wife, Marcia. Dr. Provorse spent 34 years at Washburn University, dedicating much of his career to teaching and supervising student therapists. He profoundly impacted the personal and professional growth of hundreds of students, effectively shaping the mental health landscape in Kansas. We extend our condolences to the Provorse family, as well as to the students and colleagues who had the privilege of learning from and collaborating with Dave.
