Teen arrested for parking lot shooting near Clackamas Town Center
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A teen-on-teen shooting in a parking lot near Clackamas Town Center left one with a wounded hand and another arrested on an attempted murder charge, the Clackamas County Sheriff's office said.
The shooting, which happened at around 3 p.m. Friday, brought a heavy police presence to the south parking area of the shopping center, authorities said.
Deputies found a 15-year-old boy had been shot in the hand. He was then taken to the hospital for treatment.
Authorities initially asked people to avoid the area surrounding the mall while the investigation took place and multiple units responded to the scene.
Shortly after 10 p.m., deputies arrested 18-year-old Pedro Cornejo-Morales on charges related to the shooting after he had fled the scene, finding him hiding behind a nearby building.
Cornejo-Morales was booked into the Clackamas County Jail on charges of first-degree assault, second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and second-degree attempted murder.
Officials say the case is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
