MANILA, Philippines — The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2024 Parade of Stars took place Saturday, December 21, in Manila, with the much-anticipated yearly event featuring the lead stars of this year’s 10 official film entries.
Fans on the streets greeted their favorite actors riding floats inspired by their respective films.
The parade began in Kartilya ng Katipunan and made its way through the streets of Manila before concluding at the Manila Central Post Office. Fans will be treated to a free concert and live performances afterward, featuring some of OPM’s biggest names.
This year marks the second time the MMFF features an expanded lineup of 10 films, first introduced in 2023. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), which organizes the event, aims to provide more opportunities for local filmmakers and Filipino cinema to shine.
Last year’s Parade of Stars was held in the Camanava area, covering an 8.7-kilometer route across four cities. The MMDA deployed personnel again this year for crowd control and safety, where certain roads along the route were temporarily closed to accommodate the floats and crowds.
