Para Rowing Foundation (PRF) has named eight athletes and five coaches representing five different nations to its largest training camp to date.
The Portugal training camp will take place March 14-20, 2025. Invitees include Brian Okoth from Otieno, Kenya (PR3), Danielle Main from Canada (PR3), Eelcko Henstra from the Netherlands (PR1), Isaac Clarkson from England (PR3), Jurgis Liaukus from Lithuania (PR1), Krists Mickēvičs of Latvia (PR2), Sadhbh Ni Laoghaire from Ireland (PR2), and Thyrza Kiewik hailing from Germany (PR2).
“We are looking forward to hosting PRF’s fifth intensive training week amongst such a talented group of athletes this year,” said Steven Dowd, Executive Chair of the Para Rowing Foundation Board. “The diversity of this group of athletes highlights the global reach of para rowing, and we are excited how each athlete will contribute to the future of the sport.”
The Avizacqua Team Center in will be the site of the camp. The eight athletes will spend one to two training sessions per day on the water, training in the gym, or utilizing land training.
This past year through the PRF travel and equipment grant the organization was able to send five Paralympians to the Head of the Charles Regatta and seven athletes from six nations to the Paris Paralympics. PRF’s mission is to be the pioneering non-profit organization that powers athletes with impairments worldwide to fulfill their true potential through rowing.
The six-day camp aims to improve performance, provide mental training, and increase technical skills.
“This is PRF’s largest, most ambitious, most international intensive training to date,” said Dowd.
