Austin police investigating body found near Lady Bird Lake
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department said detectives were investigating a body found near Lady Bird Lake Friday in downtown Austin.
Police said the body was found in the water near the First Street Bridge and the 300 block of Cesar Chavez.
A 911 caller told police an older man was spotted in the water, APD said during a media briefing.
Police acknowledged the heightened awareness when it comes to deaths and drownings in and around the lake. APD Sgt. Lee Knouse said the department will follow the investigative process.
"The process is the process and the public is going to have their concerns. We would love to provide all the answers as soon as we come out here, but obviously it's a process," Knouse said.
APD said the incident was being treated as a death investigation with no foul play suspected.
