Officials confirm Ville Platte police chief involved in accidental shooting incident
VILLE PLATTE, La. (KLFY) -- Louisiana State Police confirm there was an accidental discharge incident involving the Ville Platte Police Chief today.
State police said the incident is being investigated by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office.
No other details were provided by state police.
Ville Platte residents are reporting that the police chief and two others were injured in an accidental shooting.
Residents told KLFY that two people called the Ville Platte police chief about a suspicious bag left at their home. The police chief allegedly discovered a sawed off shotgun in the bag.
Residents claim that when the police chief went to remove the firearm from the bag, it went off and injured himself and the two people.
