Albany's Swinburne Park ice skating rink closed due to roof leak
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Swinburne Park ice skating rink is currently closed due to a roof leak that has created unsafe skating conditions. Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan said that the rink may be unable to operate this winter season.
Sheehan said the roof leak was believed to be caused by a third-party vendor’s improper installation of solar panels on the facility. The Department of Recreation and Department of Engineering are working to reopen the rink.
"We encourage skaters to take advantage of the outdoor rink at the Empire State Plaza and the Albany County Rink located near the Albany International Airport," said Sheehan.
