MrBeast Dangles $5 Million in Front of People in Beast Games
MrBeast, also known as Jimmy Donaldson, is a very rich man who likes making average civilians fight for money on the internet, and now he’s doing the exact same thing but on a different platform (still technically on the internet, though.) He’s teaming up with Amazon Prime Video for Beast Games, a new competition series where 1,000 people are competing for millions of dollars worth of prizes like $5 million cash (the “largest cash prize in TV history” claims the series synopsis), fancy cars, and a private island. How does one add a gifted private island to their tax return? Taxes were the least of some contestants’ worries, as a class action lawsuit was filed against Donaldson and Prime Video over alleged unpaid wages and hostile working conditions; several contestants were hospitalized during the filming of the games, and other contestants claimed meals were “small and sporadic” on set. Meals might, unfortunately, not be Donaldson’s strong suit.
The first two episodes are streaming on Prime Video right now, with new episodes airing every Thursday (except for the penultimate episode on Friday, February 7) until the finale on February 13. None of the episodes will be available to stream on YouTube, except for a teaser-like 20-minute video in which he narrowed down the contestants from 2,000 to 1,000 for the official series.
