Happy Meals, holiday gifts delivered to children fighting cancer
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A local non-profit organization brought some holiday cheer on Thursday to children fighting cancer. The Logan Strong Foundation made its monthly McDonald's Happy Meal delivery to Albany Medical Center.
Thursday's donation was a little bit different. They also dropped off goody bags and gifts for the kids and cookies for the staff.
Organizers said it gives patients a sense of normalcy during a difficult time.
"Holiday gift bags means more to them during this time, you know, when most of the kids might be here during Christmas and not with their families at home," Logan Strong Foundation Family Outreach Coordinator Lisa McDonald said.
"Especially this week, they're missing so much stuff at school. They're missing the holiday parties; they're missing the daily events that they do, so this is something fun that we can bring for them."
The Logan Strong Foundation has already secured enough sponsorships to continue the McDonald's Thursday program through next year.
