Paul McCartney joined on stage by Ringo Starr as Beatles bandmate plays drums at the O2
BEATLES stars Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr thrilled fans by playing live together last night.
The surprise reunion saw drummer Ringo, 84, take to the stage for the finale of Macca’s world tour.
Paul’s son James, 47, was also spotted by a fan in the VIP area[/caption]They performed the band’s hits Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Helter Skelter to the delight of 20,000 fans.
Gig-goers earlier spotted Ringo in the crowd at London’s O2 Arena.
He was snapped arriving and sitting down in the VIP section in North Greenwich to watch Sir Paul perform.
The pair had last played together in 2019.
Macca, 82, was also joined by Ronnie Wood, 77, to belt out Get Back — the first time a Beatle and Rolling Stone have performed together on stage.
Let It Be singer Paul‘s proud son James McCartney, 47, was spotted in attendance in the VIP section of the audience.
Hollywood’s biggest stars also descended to hear Sir Paul perform his biggest hits from his own successful solo career and The Beatles’ catalogue.
Taking to social media, fans shared snaps with George Clooney, Judi Dench, Martin Freeman and Professor Brian Cox.
The £154million-earning tour has seen Macca front up 59 shows across four continents including a Glastonbury headline slot.
It has seen the legendary musician sing his classic hits while also paying touching tribute to late Beatles duo John Lennon and George Harrison.
Earlier this week The Sun reviewed Sir Paul’s gig in Manchester.
“I’ve a feeling we are going to have fun tonight,” cheered Sir Paul as he greeted the capacity crowd at Manchester‘s Co-op Live Arena.
“Alright Manchester,” he chipped, “it’s good to be back.”
It was a show filled with fireworks – literally, snow – albeit the paper kind, and a tear-jerking performance of I’ve Got A Feeling with an AI version of his late The Beatles bandmate, John Lennon.
The icon, in one of a handful touching moments on-stage, fought back tears as he hailed it “great, because I get to sing with John again.”
