Rappler Talk Entertainment: Why Enrique Gil chose to do found footage horror
MANILA, Philippines – Producers Enrique Gil and Dondon Monteverde join Rappler Talk Entertainment on Thursday, December 19, 3 pm, to talk about their new found footage horror film, Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital, which is also among the 10 entries to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.
It is not the first time that Enrique is doing a horror for the festival, having done so in 2012 with The Strangers, but it is the first time that he’s doing one in the style of a found footage like Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity, and of course, its spiritual predecessor, the 2018 South Korean hit Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum.
It stars Enrique Gil, Jane de Leon, Alexa Miro, beauty queen MJ Lastimosa, and internet personalities Raf Pineda and Ryan “Zarckaroo” Azurin, forming a gang of Filipino amateur ghosthunters looking for a scary good time at Xinglin General Hospital in Tainan in Taiwan, which is known to be one of the most haunted places in Taiwan.
Here we talk about how the team decided on the Taiwan hospital, why they decided to adapt the South Korean movie, and the cast of the film.
Erik Matti is also one of the three co-producers of the film, which is directed by Kerwin Go. – Rappler.com
