LTISD Superintendent Paul Norton placed on paid leave pending investigation
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Lake Travis school board placed Superintendent Paul Norton on paid leave after it held a special meeting "to discuss a personnel matter" of a report, which contained "allegations of misconduct," according to a news release from Lake Travis Independent School District Board President Erin Archer.
The statement added that those allegations were presented to the board In a closed board meeting session. The release said the allegations are "confidential and protected from disclosure."
"Upon conclusion of our closed session, and as per established district policies and procedures, trustees voted unanimously to place Mr. Norton on paid administrative lead effective immediately," Archer said.
The board also voted Pam Sanchez, who has been a member of LTISD since October 2020, as the acting superintendent for the district. Sanchez served as assistant superintendent for business services, according to the district.
"We understand that this decision may raise questions and concerns, and we want to assure our staff, students, families, and the greater Lake Travis community that the board remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring a fair and thorough process. Our primary focus continues to be the success and well-being of all those we serve," Archer said.
A spokesperson for LTISD said only this statement from the district will be released at this time.
