Dick Van Dyke Recalls Neighbors Rescuing Him After He Exhausted Himself While Evacuating Amid Malibu Fire
Dick Van Dyke was one of the celebs who had to evacuate their home recently.
The recently turned 99-year-old entertainer was urged to vacate his his home after the Franklin Fire spread in the Malibu Canyon, Calif., area.
However, while trying to get out, Dick became exhausted and had some trouble leaving. Luckily, some neighbors took action and helped out, he recalled in a new interview.

“It was comin’ over the hill, you could see it,” he said, via TODAY. “And oh my god, we got out of here.”
“I was trying to crawl to the car. I had exhausted myself. I couldn’t get up,” he recalled about trying to unsnarl his hose and struggling. “Three neighbors came and carried me out, and came back and put out a little fire in the guest house, and saved me.”
The Franklin Fire has unfortunately burned over 4,000 acres and destroyed 20 structures, including nine single family dwellings, and it has damaged 14 single family dwellings, two multi-family dwellings, seven commercial and five outbuildings.
As of Tuesday (December 17), the fire was reportedly at 63% contained.
