Did someone dump a portable toilet into Lake Shawnee?
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Local park officials had to remove a portable toilet from Lake Shawnee Monday which is suspected to have been dumped in the water.
27 News reached out to Shawnee County Parks and Recreation (SCP+R) after reports surfaced of a 'Johnny on the Spot' portable toilet being found in Lake Shawnee. Sean Zears, a spokesman for SCP+R, said staff were told about the situation on the morning of Monday, Dec. 16.
Zears said the portable toilet has been removed from the lake from where it was found near the south boat ramp. The SCP+R suspects it was dumped into the lake by multiple individuals in an act of vandalism.
"This is unfortunately another vandalism incident at one of our parks," Zears said. "We strongly encourage anyone who witnesses something like this to report it to us in whatever way is easiest for them. Our goal at Shawnee County Parks and Recreation is to keep all our parks and facilities in the best possible condition for the community to enjoy."
