Caraga minimum wage earners to get P50-daily increase in 2 tranches
MANILA, Philippines – Minimum wage earners in private establishments in the Caraga region are set to receive a P50-daily increase to be given in two tranches, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Monday, December 16.
The Caraga regional wage board issued Wage Order No. RXIII-19, increasing the prevailing P385-minimum wage by P30 upon effectivity on January 2, 2025, and by another P20 on May 1. The full new daily minimum wage will then be P435.
The increase applies to all workers in all sectors, whether in agriculture, non-agriculture, service and retail, or manufacturing.
The regional board also issued Wage Order No. RXIII-DW-05, granting a P1,000 monthly minimum wage increase for domestic workers.
From the prevailing P5,000-monthly minimum wage for domestic workers, the new minimum wage will be P6,000 upon effectivity on January 2.
Over 65,600 minimum wage earners in the region are seen to directly benefit from the increase, while around 132,200 full-time wage and salary workers earning above the minimum may also indirectly benefit as a result of upward adjustments.
Around 32,866 domestic workers may also benefit from their respective wage order.
As the year comes to a close, proposals for an across-the-board minimum wage increase of at least P100 remain pending in Congress. The proposals range up to P750, with the P100 version having passed the Senate.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has not officially supported such proposals, only last Labor Day directing the regional wage boards to study increases within 60 days prior to the anniversary of the latest wage order. – Rappler.com
