Tottenham will not sanction January sale despite interest from South America
Multiple Brazilian outlets are now reporting that one club are extremely keen on re-signing a Tottenham man, but they will have to wait until next summer to do so.
Is an exit looming for a Tottenham forward?
The player in question is Richarlison, who has struggled to get onto the pitch across 2024, owing to his injury issues.
Now, Globo Esporte are reporting that the forward’s former club, Fluminense, are keen to bring him back, having identified him as their prime target.
The Brazilian club are looking to reshape their squad and are ‘willing to invest’ in bringing the 27-year-old back to the club. In fact, it is asserted that they have even initiated contact with the Tottenham man and his entourage.
Fluminense would have to wait until the summer
Fluminese’s interest in Richarlison is also backed by TNT Sports in Brazil, who say that the club views the Spurs man as the ideal option to bolster their attack.
However, they made it clear that the move would not be happening in the January transfer window as neither the player nor Spurs would sanction the deal.
It is explained that Richarlison does not want to leave Ange Postecoglou‘s side midway into the season while the Lilywhites also have no plans of letting him go next month, even on loan.
Additionally, the Brazilian international is about to become a father, which is why he is not entertaining the thought of moving mid-season, with Fluminese thus having to wait at least until next summer to get their man.
Fluminese may not be able to afford Richarlison
While Tottenham will not be able to recoup the fee they paid for Richarlison, they would want at least £30m-£35m for the forward, which clubs in Brazil would not be in a position to afford.
Additionally, the former Everton man would want to continue playing in Europe if he wants to maximise his chances of being part of the Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup.
