High street discounter slashes price of Celebrations to just £2 and they’re the cheapest around

BARGAIN hunters have been going wild after a high street discounter dropped the price of Celebrations pouches to just £2.

The 325g pouches have caught the eye of savvy shoppers, with many pointing out that two pouches cost just £4 for a total of 650g.

Bargain hunters have spotted the cheapest Celebrations deal at Poundland
The high street discounter is selling the 325g pouch for just $2

That’s 100g more than the standard Celebrations tubs sold elsewhere for around £4.

One delighted shopper shared the find on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, writing: “We all know the Christmas tubs are getting smaller every year, but Poundland at the moment are doing a pouch for £2.

“So, buying two bags for £4 will be 650g when the tubs are £4 plus everywhere for only 550g.”

Poundland’s deal has sparked excitement among chocoholics, with one shopper saying: “The pouches are fantastic.”

While another added: “These pouches are just too good.”

If you’re looking for alternatives, other retailers are offering similar deals.

Morrisons is selling two tubs of Celebrations for £7 – which works out at £3.50 per 550g tub.

Meanwhile, Tesco and Sainsbury’s have tubs priced at £4 each.

For those keen to stick to pouches, they’re priced at £2.50 at Sainsbury’s and £2.75 at Tesco, making Poundland’s £2 deal the standout bargain.

As Christmas approaches, prices on festive treats often drop as supermarkets compete for shoppers’ attention. Comparing the price can help you spot the best deals.

You can compare prices of certain products across the major supermarkets through trolley.co.uk.

Price Spy and Price Runner are worth a go to get a cross-section across a wider range of retailers too.

Prices are always subject to change and these prices are reflective of today, 16th December 2024.

It seems the Celebrations pouch is sold out online, but shoppers can still purchase them in stores.

It’s always worth calling your local store to find out if the product is in stock before making a trip.

You can find your local Poundland using the store locator tool.

How to compare prices to get the best deal

JUST because something is on offer, or is part of a sale, it doesn't mean it's always a good deal.

There are plenty of comparison websites out there that’ll check prices for you – so don’t be left paying more than you have to.

Most of them work by comparing the prices across hundreds of retailers.

Here are some that we recommend:

  • Google Shopping is a tool that lets users search for and compare prices for products across the web. Simply type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results.
  • Price Spy logs the history of how much something costs from over 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and the supermarkets. Once you select an individual product you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have it in stock.
  • Idealo is another website that lets you compare prices between retailers. All shoppers need to do is search for the item they need and the website will rank them from the cheapest to the most expensive one.
  • CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon. To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of.

What other savings can you get on chocolate?

If you’re looking for more savings on chocolate, three retailers have started selling Quality Street tins even bigger and cheaper.

Home Bargains is selling the 813g metal tin for just £7.99 – the equivalent of 98p per 100g of chocolate.

Asda and Sainsbury’s are selling them for a penny more at £8, much lower than the typical retail price of £12.

These are better value than the £6 600g plastic tubs sold at Tesco and Aldi, which are the equivalent of £1 per 100g.

To get the deal at Sainsbury’s, you will need to have a Nectar card – otherwise, the tin will set you back £12 instead.

You don’t need a loyalty card for the Home Bargains or Asda deals.

Another great deal can be found at Morrisons, where you can get two 600g Quality Street tubs for £7 – working out at just 58p per 100g.

To take advantage of the savings, you will need to be a Morrisons More card member.

Elsewhere, Lidl is currently offering Lidl Plus members the chance to pick up Quality Street, Roses or Heroes tubs for £4.49 each, or two for £8.

It’s always worth shopping around first to get the best deals ahead of Christmas.

Supermarkets will often battle it out to offer the best deals on household staples and Christmas favourites in the run-up to the big day.

With Christmas just around the corner, stocking up on festive chocolates could save you money – but keep an eye out for last-minute price drops as shops race to attract customers.

How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don't have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.

Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.
