Full list of supermarkets slashing price of Christmas dinner essentials to just 15p this week
SAINSBURY’S, Tesco and Aldi are among the shops slashing prices just in time for Christmas dinner.
With budgets tight for many this year, some of us may be struggling with the often hefty costs of putting on a Christmas spread.
But major supermarkets have answered our prayers, dramatically slashing vegetable prices.
Festive feast essentials like carrots, potatoes and the all-important Brussels sprouts are among the discounted foods which start at just 15p.
However some customers should be aware that they need to be signed up for loyalty schemes in some cases, though this can be done for free.
The exact veg discounted varies and we’ve included just the ones that are part of the offer, plus the total cost and weight, where available.
Tesco and Aldi offer the lowest price per 100g overall, but with just a penny difference between them and other retailers, it’s worth considering location and availability.
If you’re a Nectar card holder, Sainsbury’s deals are a great option, while Lidl’s inclusion of shallots and swede offers more variety.
Be sure to stock up early—these deals are only available while stocks last, and with prices this low, supplies could run out fast.
As always remember to compare prices and keep an eye out for a better deal.
Here’s what you can get and where.

What is loyalty pricing?
You may have heard of loyalty pricing, but do you know what it is?
Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Morrisons are three supermarkets that offer customers signed up to their loyalty schemes exclusive discounts – known as loyalty pricing.
All three retailer’s schemes, Nectar Card, Clubcard and More Card, are free to sign up to as well.
The obvious advantage to loyalty pricing is that you can save potentially hundreds of pounds a year on your shopping, all without spending a penny.
But different supermarkets offer exclusive discounts on different products, so do some research before doing your shopping.
Either way, be wary of supermarkets artificially inflating prices to make it seem like you’re getting a better deal than you are.
A previous investigation by consumer group Which? found Sainsbury’s and Tesco have increased the price of everyday goods then slapped loyalty prices on them thinking customers wouldn’t notice.
Either way, it’s worth shopping around though.
Supermarkets change their prices all the time, sometimes multiple times daily, so it’s worth researching to ensure you’re getting the best price on an item.
You can use websites like Trolley to see how the major supermarket’s compare in terms of price on any number of goods.
Aldi

- Carrots: 15p (1kg)
- Parsnips: 15p (500g)
- Brussels Sprouts: 15p (500g)
- Broccoli: 15p (each)
- Red and White Cabbages: 15p (each)
The Festive Super Six Promotion runs in stores from December 19 to 24, while stocks last.
Lidl
- British Parsnips: 15p (500g)
- British Carrots: 15p (1kg)
- British Brussels Sprouts: 15p (500g)
- Echalion Shallots: 15p (300g)

As grocery prices increase, these savvy deals are great for saving pennies at the most expensive time of the year.
It seems families are getting creative to stick to a money-saving budget this Christmas.
One mum has revealed how she made an entire Christmas dinner for four for just £3.50 each.
How to save money on Christmas shopping
Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save money on your Christmas shopping.
Limit the amount of presents – buying presents for all your family and friends can cost a bomb.
Instead, why not organise a Secret Santa between your inner circles so you’re not having to buy multiple presents.
Plan ahead – if you’ve got the stamina and budget, it’s worth buying your Christmas presents for the following year in the January sales.
Make sure you shop around for the best deals by using price comparison sites so you’re not forking out more than you should though.
Buy in Boxing Day sales – some retailers start their main Christmas sales early so you can actually snap up a bargain before December 25.
Delivery may cost you a bit more, but it can be worth it if the savings are decent.
Shop via outlet stores – you can save loads of money shopping via outlet stores like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts.
They work by selling returned or slightly damaged products at a discounted rate, but usually any wear and tear is minor.
