Pre match Oxford United chat
No midweek game and a 3pm Saturday kickoff before Christmas.
A disappointing and wet fart of a performance vs Preston saw more away issues for us.
Home form is currently sustaining our Promotion push and will hopefully continue Saturday afternoon.
Not in great shape Oxford, 0 wins in 6, only 1 win in 8.
So poor in fact promotion winning manager Des Buckingham has been sacked (yesterday) and they currently haven't got a manager.
The final straw being 1-0 up vs Sheffield Wednesday at home and losing 3-1.
This was preceded by a 2-0 defeat to fellow struggles QPR (all be it they have picked up slightly).
In terms of away form 0 wins in 9, 2nd worst in the league.
They sit 20th currently, 1 point outside the drop with a leaky defence.
18 goals conceded away which is the 4th most in the league.
In terms of eye catching results the draws vs WBA and Burnley are the only two really, but both were at home.
They've been swatted aside by many in the top 6, Boro put 6 past them, Sheffield United put 3, Sunderland beat them and Blackburn.
Without wanting to say this is a must win (because all our rivals have and its at home) isn't really any excuse for not.
But last season caretaker Sunderland coach Mike Dodds beat us so who knows.
Can't mention tactics or formations because don't know who the manager is.
In terms of key players.
Midfielder Cameron Brannagan who they have missed greatly this season through injury has been a driving force over the years. A 3 time member of the League 1 Team of the Season shows how impressive he has been for them and even this season he has 1 goal and 2 assists despite the struggles they have had and only starting 9 games. 40 goals and 17 assists over the last 3 seasons from midfield, his quality on the ball is clear.
Pacey and versatile striker Mark Harris started the season on fire, 4 goals in the first 4 games of the season (none since) shows he is a threat, a hard working and quick player he managed 19 goals and 5 assists last season.
Tyler Goodrhamis another pacey and direct member of the Oxford forward line, more in the tricky winger mould than Harris but a direct and tricky winger capable of the spectacular and has 4 goals and 1 assist this season. Still only 21 lots of potential.
Finally striker Dane Scarlett deserves a mention with his 4 goals in only 672 minutes this season which is a pretty brilliant record in fairness.
In terms of ourselves a win is needed to get over another disappointing away display and to maintain the 2ppg average we need.
Changes people would like?
Gnonto and Aaronson flattered to deceive vs Preston, time for Solomon and Ramazani?
Does the unlucky to lose his place Wober come back in?
Is this the possible fixture to start easing Amps back in to the first 11?
