Rescuers race to reach cyclone survivors as hundreds feared dead in France’s Mayotte
Rescuers were working quickly on Monday to reach survivors after Cyclone Chido hit the French territory of Mayotte on Saturday, causing major damage to its airport and cutting off electricity, water and communication links. Prefect François-Xavier Bieuville told a local broadcaster he expected the final death toll to reach "close to a thousand or even several thousand".
