One of Santa's helpers in Topeka is back for the first time after beating cancer
TOPEKA (KSNT) - For the first time in five years, Santa's helper, Santa Wayne, is back in the chair and couldn't be happier.
Santa Wayne helped the big man up north for nearly a decade before getting diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2019.
After a cell transplant and a five-year fight, he was able to hear what all the kids were wanting for Christmas for the first time on Sunday.
"It is really fantastic, and it was because of all the prayer," Santa Wayne said. "I mean nationwide, people were praying for me and it was something that I really missed. And it's so nice to be able to be in remission and that I still go into regular check-ups but to hear still in remission makes me a very happy Santa Claus."
Santa Wayne told 27 news that it is heartwarming for him to go home at night knowing kids are going home very happy as it is one of his joys in life.
