Dad-Of-Two Elton John Has This Specific & Parental Request for His Gravestone
In case you missed it, Elton John, the legendary singer and performer, was just named TIME magazine’s Icon of the Year; and during the revelation, he revealed what he wants to be known as.
While alongside his husband David Furnish, he revealed that when he dies, he wants to be remembered for one thing; and that one thing he wants on his gravestone.
“On my gravestone, all I want it to say is, ‘He was a great dad,’” he said to the outlet. Isn’t that so heartwarming? Truly, his greatest legacy isn’t the groundbreaking music or how he changed music, it’s being a father to his two wonderful sons.
And this isn’t the first time he’s talked about his legacy. Earlier this month, he told Good Morning America, “My legacy is that I was a great husband and an even better father… The music, the career is fantastic. It’s been mind-blowing, groundbreaking. But the most important thing to me in my life is making sure my children are happy, they have a wonderful life and that I was good to them. That’s all that counts.”
For those who don’t know, John and Furnish have two children, whom they both welcomed via the same surrogate. Their sons’ names are Zachary, 13, who was born in 2010, and Elijah, 11, who was born in 2013.
In a previous appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2016 via People, he said their kids are the greatest thing in our lives.”
“If you’d had said to me 10 years ago I’d be sitting on your show married to the man I love and have two beautiful children I would have said, ‘You put acid in my drink.’ But life throws you challenges and life throws you curveballs — great curveballs — and these two children have come along at a time I never thought I’d have children,” he said. “There’s no words to describe how much we love these boys. They’re just amazing.”
