McDonald’s customers have days left to try rare menu item before it’s axed
MCDONALD’S customers have just days left to try a rare menu item before it’s axed.
The home of the Golden Arches stunned customers when it said the Grimmace Shake would return to menus this December.
The milkshake – which is inspired by the chain’s purple mascot – landed in UK restaurants for the first time in August but was only around for a week.
It was already a fan favourite in the States and went viral when it was launched across the pond.
The sweet treat is purple and features a blueberry-flavoured syrup blended with a creamy milkshake base.
It is also the first time McDonalds has mixed things up with its flavours – which are typically just strawberry, chocolate and vanilla.
It is currently available to buy across McDonald’s 1,450 stores this winter, and the drink has been raved about by customers.
In a post online, one diner said: “Managed to get one after missing out last time. It was delicious.”
While another said: “Tried it for the first time just now, I’m not a fan of blueberry, but this was delicious.”
But customers who are keen to get their hands on a shake will need to act quickly.
That’s because Maccies is pulling the product from menus on December 24, giving fans just nine days to get their hands on one.
A medium Grimace shake will set you back £2.69 – or £2.99 if you want to upgrade to a large.
This is compared to the usual cost for a regular medium McDonalds milkshake which is £1.99 or £2.19 for a large.
However, bear in mind that prices can vary depending on which McDonald’s store you are visiting.
McDonald’s has treated fans to a number of new menu items over the past few months.
Last month it launched a new Chilli Double Cheeseburger, which landed on its saver menu for £2.49.
It features two 100% British and Irish beef patties, two slices of cheese, onions, jalapenos, pickles and spicy relish in a toasted bun.
Meanwhile, McDonald’s also launched its brand new Christmas menu, which featured a never-before-seen Terry’s Chocolate Orange Pie.

Another way to cut back spending at McDonald’s is by ordering from the Savers menu or by taking advantage of its ‘3 for £3’ deal when it lands in stores.
It is also worth bearing in mind that McDonald’s offers a discount on your next order if you fill out a survey online after visiting its stores.
These can be found on the back of any receipt you get at McDonald’s.
How do I find my nearest McDonald’s?
If you’re planning on taking a trip to McDonald’s, you’ll want to know where your nearest branch is.
The chain has a restaurant locator tool on its website you can use to find your nearest one – and check what time it opens.
