Prep basketball roundup: Host Archie Williams advances to title game
After San Domenico secured its spot in the final, the host Archie Williams boys basketball team locked in its spot for a neighborhood tussle for the title at the Carl “Red” Brown Tournament. The Peregrine Falcons beat Hayward, 62-41 in Friday’s semifinals.
Junior Brian Wright led the Falcons (4-3) with 20 points and three rebounds, while senior Shyama Dean added 12 points and three steals. Junior Ephraim Sohn finished with 15 points, six rebounds and four steals. Junior captain Grady Stewart dished out seven assists.
- Branson wrapped up play at the Gridley Invitational with a 63-28 victory over the hosts on Saturday. NJ Gray and Chase Robertson had 13 points apiece for the Bulls (3-3), with Gray added eight assists.
- Terra Linda took home a 53-48 road victory over Urban on Saturday behind a 14-point effort from Bennett Kayser, who also had eight rebounds and three blocks. Ethan Baumart followed with 12 points, eight rebounds and five blocks during a strong defensive effort from Terra Linda. The Trojans improve to 6-0 ahead of next week’s Albany Tournament.
- Marin Catholic sustained its second overtime loss in two days at the De La Salle tournament, falling 58-53 against Las Lomas on Saturday. Joe Hammond had a strong all-around game with 16 points, six assists, five rebounds, and four steals for MC (2-5). Jake Ryan added 11 points and Henry Dibble had eight points, five rebounds, and two steals. MC led by two points late in regulation but Las Lomas tied the game from the free-throw line to force overtime.
- Gio Brovelli hit four 3-pointers in an electrifying first half as San Rafael raced ahead of Kelseyville and never looked back during a 74-52 semifinal win on Friday night at the 75th annual REIBT in Healdsburg. Brovelli finished with 27 points, while teammate Luke Shapiro added 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Bulldogs. Will Healy narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds, and Anthony Tajbakhsh hit seven points and seven rebounds.
- San Marin came up just short against Casa Grande in Friday’s 61-58 semifinal loss at the Rose City Tournament in Santa Rosa. Grant Means led the Mustangs with 17 points, while Rio Seiler had 12. Miller Morgan collected eight rebounds for San Marin, which plays Napa in the third-place game.
- Redwood (2-3) dropped a 63-41 road game against University on Friday night.
Girls basketball
Avery Myerberg outscored Casa Grande by herself as Branson rolled to a 66-34 on Saturday. Myerberg made eight 3-pointers en route to 38 points for the Bulls (6-2).

- Archie Williams sophomore Reese Patton controlled the first half before freshman Parker Conrad took over in the second half as the Peregrine Falcons beat Terra Nova 50-44 on Saturday to claim the consolation championship at the Jim Soden Classic. Patton finished with 16 points and Parker tallied 12 points for the Falcons (4-3). Lila Peterson earned all-tournament honors, averaging nine points per game and leading the defense.
- Izzy McFadden scored 28 points to help MC get past Los Altos 53-38 at the St. Francis tournament on Saturday. Brooke Spagnuolo added 12 for the Wildcats (3-4), who were down two starters due to injury. MC lost 42-27 against the hosts on Friday. McFadden had 14 points in that game.
