Winter Weather Advisory: Freezing rain forecast for the Hood River Valley
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Freezing rain is in the forecast for the upper Hood River Valley and areas of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest Friday as heavy rain, mountain snow and frigid temperatures hit the region.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the upper Hood River Valley and areas of the Cascade Range between Willamette Pass and the Canadian border from 10 a.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday.
“As [the rain] falls, it freezes and accumulates as ice,” the National Weather Service forecast states. “In this case, the freezing rain will be spotty but based on high resolution models, there is high confidence is accumulations of one tenth of an inch of ice throughout the valley.”
The freezing rain may cause slick roads and walkways. People traveling by road or by food are advised to use extra caution in areas where freezing rain is forecast.
