The United Nations Trust Fund for Afghanistan has announced that Norway has contributed over 896,300 dollars to help rebuild the lives of people and empower women in Afghanistan.
The organization released a statement on its X page on Wednesday, December 12, confirming Norway’s continued assistance in various sectors within Afghanistan.
The United Nations Trust Fund for Afghanistan stated that “Norway continues to assist the Afghanistan’s people in rebuilding their lives, empowering women, and creating sustainable change.”
Previously, Norway had announced a contribution of 1.8 million dollars to Afghanistan.
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, over the past 10 years, Norway has provided 189 million kroner, which is equivalent to more than 17.5 million dollars in aid.
At the same time, with the onset of winter, the United Nations and international aid organizations have warned of an increased level of needs within the country.
According to international organizations, approximately 23.7 million people in Afghanistan are in need of humanitarian assistance.
Norway’s sustained support underscores its commitment to Afghanistan’s long-term recovery and development, especially in terms of women’s empowerment and life reconstruction. As the country faces increasing humanitarian needs, such international partnerships will be crucial in alleviating suffering and building a more stable future.
With winter exacerbating the crisis, the continued aid is vital for ensuring that vulnerable communities, particularly women and children, receive the support they urgently need. The international community must remain united in addressing the growing challenges in Afghanistan.
