Lee Mack left gobsmacked as 15 players lose ‘easiest question’ ever on The 1% Club – would you have got it?
THE 1% Club host Lee Mack was left stunned as 15 people were eliminated on the ‘easiest question’.
The ITV game show sees 100 people face logic and common sense-focused questions.
Each episode starts off with the “90% question” – which is generally the easiest and eases contestants into the game.
Wednesday’s (December 11) instalment saw the opening question take an unexpected turn.
It asked: “What food is represented here?”, while showing images of a thermometer and a dog.
Before Lee, 56, unveiled the answer, it was revealed 15 people answered incorrectly.
Visibly surprised, the comedian remarked: “Not being rude but you have got to be kidding me!”
He added: “15? I said to the producer we can’t ask this question because no one is going to get this wrong.”
Lee shared the right answer was “hot dog”, as he told the contestants: “It’s hot dog because that means hot and that means dog.”
At this point, the comedian turned his attention to a contestant named Anna who’d thought the answer was “dog food”.
He asked her, in that case, what she thought the thermometer had represented.
As the eliminated player replied, Lee cut in with: “Did you think the thermometer was used to cook the dog food?”
In response, Anna said she hadn’t been “ready” for the question.
Lee quipped: “Oh you weren’t ready? We’ve never, in the history of this show, had anyone go, ‘Oh, I knew it, I just wasn’t ready'”.
Flabbergasted viewers meanwhile took to social media to share their disbelief.
One wrote: “15 out? Wtf?”

Host Jeremy Clarkson asked: “From the 2000 awards ceremony onwards, the Best Actress Oscar has never been won by a woman whose surname begins with which one of these letters?” The multiple choice answers were between G, K, M and W. In the end, and with the £32,000 safe, player Glen had to make a guess and went for G. It turned out to be correct as Nicole Kidman, Frances McDormand and Kate Winslet are among the stars who have won the Best Actress gong since 2000.
- The 1% Club – Viewers of Lee Mack’s popular ITV show were left dumbfounded by a question that also left the players perplexed. The query went as follows: “Edna’s birthday is on the 6th of April and Jen’s birthday falls on the 15th of October, therefore Amir’s birthday must be the ‘X’ of January.” It turns out the conundrum links the numbers with its position in the sentence, so 6th is the sixth word and 15th is the fifteenth word. Therefore, Amir’s birthday is January 24th, corresponding to the 24th word in the sentence.
- The Chase – The ITV daytime favourite left fans scratching their heads when it threw up one of the most bizarre questions to ever grace the programme. One of the questions asked the player: “Someone with a nightshade intolerance should avoid eating what?” The options were – sweetcorn, potatoes, carrots – with Steve selecting sweetcorn but the correct answer was potatoes.
Another added: “How are 15! People out….? That was obvious.”
While a third penned: “How did 15 people manage to get that question wrong?”
A fourth chimed in: “To the 15 of you that just got that last question wrong…”.
