Claire chatted to Gareth Thompson about the unique way he was combining the extreme sport of wrestling and the Christian faith by holding regular wresting matches inside his local church.
Footage showed the holy place of worship complete with a wrestling ring and spectators shouting for their favourite fighters.
But it wasn’t until Claire decided to join in the action herself without warning that really got people talking.
As she introduced who she would be speaking too on the show, Claire could be seen sat on the edge of the wresting ring.
The camera then began to pan out as the star began to stand up to reveal a pro wrestler already waiting in the rink.
Claire then launched herself on top of him with all her might causing them both to crash onto the floor in the bizarre moment.
Her waist appeared to connect with his neck as they both laid on a safety mat placed in the ring for a few seconds after the leap of faith.
Sharing a clip of the moment to her own social media accounts, the TV star said: “I think this is my FAVOURITE piece to camera I’ve ever done.”
As part of Claire’s report, she spoke to the church’s Reverend Natasha Thomas who confessed that allowing the wrestling matches to take place had been a way of getting “bums back on pew’s”.
Natasha told Claire: “I suppose I’m not the most conventional of vicar’s, I just believe if we can open our doors and let God’s love shine out – why wouldn’t you?”
The wrestlers even linked their matches to portraying stories from the Bible and re-telling them in a very modern way.
One of their regular matches sees them take on the roles and personalities of David and Goliath in a bid to show audiences and churchgoers that the strongest and biggest man is not necessarily always the one to come out on top.
Claire has worked in journalism for over 25 years and has been a regular face across both ITV News and Channel 5.
