Man arrested in Tuesday drug bust, Lafayette Sheriff says
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- A 38-year-old Lafayette man is facing multiple drug-related charges after search warrants were executed on Kaliste Saloom Road and West Vermilion Street, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office announced.
In a news release, the sheriff's office said James Beck was arrested Tuesday evening and charged with the following:
- Possession of Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS)
- Possession of Schedule II CDS
- five counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute (PWITD)
- Schedule I CDS
- PWITD Schedule II CDS
- three counts of Possession of a Firearm or Carrying a Concealed Weapon by a Person Convicted of Certain Felonies
- Possession of Firearms by a Person Against Whom a Protective Order is Issued
- three counts of Illegal Carrying of Weapons
- Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms
- Violation of Protective Orders
- Drug Paraphernalia
According to the news release, these charges are a result of two search warrants used in the 3200 block of Kaliste Saloom and in the 100 block of West Vermilion Street.
The sheriff's office said Beck was arrested after narcotics agents found a stolen rile, two other firearms, more than 20 pounds of marijuana, roughly 50 pounds of THC products and about 68 ounces of codeine.
No other details were released.
