United have to pay £41m to sign French star, Omar Berrada wants him at Old Trafford - report
Manchester United have the chance to sign one of AC Milan’s best players next summer, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.
The Red Devils have had mixed fortunes since the international break under new manager Ruben Amorim.
They began with two wins and one draw in all competitions before suffering back-to-back losses.
Amorim has already identified the need for potential upgrades and he has his sights on a new left wing-back.
Calciomercato now claim that Milan could be forced to contemplate Hernandez’s exit if he does not renew.
They are likely to hold out for £41 million to sell Hernandez next summer despite his deal expiring in June 2026.
United are one of the main admirers of the Real Madrid graduate alongside Bayern Munich.
Red Devils could capitalise on contract stand-off
Hernandez is predominantly a left-back with over 300 appearances from the position in his career.
However, the 27-year-old has also impressed as a central defender for the Rossoneri this campaign.
The Frenchman has excelled with his all-round attributes which would suit the left wing-back role.
He managed 16 goal contributions last term and has added another four in the current season.
Hernandez has a passing accuracy of 90 percent in Serie A this campaign with 63 per cent duels won.
United CEO Omar Berrada appears keen on bringing him to Old Trafford and the question remains whether Amorim will give the green light for the transfer.
Hernandez is in the prime of his career, having just turned 27. United will likely want to lower the initial transfer fee by including performance-based add-ons.
