Property mogul Nick Candy DEFECTS from Conservatives to Reform to be Nigel Farage’s new chief fundraiser
PROPERTY mogul Nick Candy has defected from the Conservatives to be Nigel Farage’s new chief fundraiser.
Last night he told The Sun: “I will raise Reform more money than any political party in the UK has ever raised – Nigel is going to be the PM.”
Candy said: ‘Nigel Farage is a close personal friend of mine, and Reform UK represents the future of British politics’[/caption]The ex-Tory donor, who is married to pop star Holly Valance, is the latest big name signing for Reform UK as they aggressively pursue new opposition leader Kemi Badenoch.
The multi-millionaire developer said: “I have resigned my membership of the Conservative Party after many years of active support and substantial donations to the party.
“I am sorry to say there have been too many broken promises and a complete breach of trust with the wealth creators in our country.
He added: “Nigel Farage is a close personal friend of mine, and Reform UK represents the future of British politics.”
Mr Farage “warmly welcomed” the defection a week after ex-Tory Minister Dame Andrea Jenkyns also jumped ship.
There had been mounting speculation former Home Secretary Suella Braveman would also switch sides to the right wing challengers.
But last night she denied the claims.
However her partner Rael did defect, with Mrs Braverman saying: “My husband and I have a healthy respect for each other’s independence – he doesn’t tell me how to do my job, and I don’t tell him how to pick a political party.”
