I lost 13 STONE after reading two words on my doctor’s computer screen which left me horrified
A MUM who lost 13st is Slimming World’s Woman of the Year.
Ali Ridgley, 52, was 23st at her heaviest and was spurred into action after seeing “morbidly obese” on her medical notes.
The military mess manager, of Plymouth, said: “I was a heart attack waiting to happen.”
She is now healthy enough to train for a marathon, runs her own dance classes, and takes pride in staying a ‘foodie’ throughout her weight loss journey.
Ali added: “Ultimately, I started this journey because I wanted to live life to the fullest – and that’s what I feel I can do now.
“These days I’m not a heart attack waiting to happen – I’m the woman I always wanted to be.”
She began by transforming her eating habits, and as the weight started to drop, she successfully incorporated exercise into her daily routine.
She added: “The way I cook and eat now has become so natural it’s effortless.
“Each pound I’ve lost has helped me to become the confident, fit and strong woman I am today and I’m so proud of myself.
“I’m so glad that I didn’t go down the bariatric surgery route.”
