Pipe bomb threat targets Marjorie Taylor Greene prompting search of her mailbox
Far-right Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said Monday she was targeted with a pipe bomb threat that prompted a response from local law enforcement.
"The Rome Police Department's Assistant Chief of Police received an email containing a bomb threat directed towards me," wrote Greene in a statement on X. "The source of the email has been traced to a Russian IP address. Due to the international nature and severity of this threat, my office is collaborating closely with local and federal law enforcement, including the FBI, to ensure the perpetrator is brought to justice."

Greene provided screenshots of the message threat, which described in elaborate detail an improvised explosive device that was to be placed in her mailbox "for Palestine."
"I’m so grateful to every member of the Rome Police Department for your swift and professional response in ensuring my safety," she wrote.
"Unfortunately, this is not the first time the Rome Police Department has been dispatched to my home," Greene said, noting that she has also been targeted over half a dozen times with "swatting" attacks, where emergency calls were placed directing heavily armed special units to her home with apparent intent to endanger her life.
It is unclear whether there was ever an actual bombing plot against the congresswoman. However, around the time of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, explosive devices were discovered at the headquarters of the Democratic and Republican Parties, one of which came very close to Vice President Kamala Harris. The perpetrator of those attacks has never been identified.
