Bears set for first practice under interim coach Thomas Brown
Bears players will practice for the first time under coach Thomas Brown on around at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at Halas Hall.
Brown was promoted Friday, minutes after the Bears fired coach Matt Eberflus following a 23-20 loss to the Lions in which Eberflus failed to call a timeout in the final seconds.
Brown met briefly with Eberflus on Friday and then flew to North Carolina to spend time with his family. The Bears had given their coaches the weekend off, and Brown hadn’t been back home all season.
Players and coaches returned to Halas Hall on Monday. Brown met with them that morning.
“The initial goal is to unify this football team,” he said Monday afternoon. “Everybody on the same accord, moving the same direction, speaking the same language, and attacking together.
“No more divisions. As far as the outside noise, we ignore it because it doesn't matter, whether it's positive or negative. What matters is our daily approach, us working together and execute when it's time to go execute. I started with that first. Then I talked about just got to do a better job being a more disciplined football team on and off the football field.”
Check back later Wednesday for more updates.
