Sky launches new 50p a DAY TV service with Netflix, Discovery+ and its best channel all included
SKY has unleashed a new cheaper TV product in a bid to lure budget-conscious Brits – and it includes the company’s most loved channel as well as Netflix.
Sky Essential TV comes in at a competitive £15 per month for new customers – which works out to less than 50p per day.
The broadcaster has scaled back the number of premium channels people can access but the new low price service does come with Sky Atlantic.
This means viewers can catch mega hit favourites such as House of the Dragon and new series The Day of the Jackal starring Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch.
Sky says the offering brings together over 100 channels.
Channels you won’t find on Sky Essential TV include Sky Max, Sky Comedy, Sky Documentaries, Sky Crime, Sky Showcase and Sky Witness, U&Alibi, Comedy Central, U&GOLD and National Geographic.
Those can be found on the existing Sky Ultimate TV package, which is £22 per month.
Customers can still choose to pay extra for add-ons like Sky Sports and Sky Cinema.
However, Netflix Basic with Ads and Discovery+ are included in Sky Essential TV at no extra cost.
The pair usually cost £4.99 and £3.99 respectively when bought separately.
Sky Essential TV is available via the company’s internet-based devices, Sky Glass and Sky Stream.
Sky Stream is the cheapest way to redeem the offering, with a 24 month contract for £15 per month.
A 31-day rolling contract comes in at £18 per month.

Sky Stream vs Sky Q - How do they compare?
The most obvious difference between Sky Stream and Sky Q is how they're delivered.
Sky Q uses the traditional satellite dish for live TV and broadband for on demand shows.
Whereas Sky Stream relies entirely on the internet to do both live TV and on demand.
The interfaces look pretty much identical.
Sky Q tends to have more channels, mostly because Sky Stream does away with standard definition channels (where there’s a HD one available) and +1 channels.
One major difference is recording.
On Sky Q you can record anything you like directly onto your box that will stay there forever.
On Sky Stream you can’t technically record – you can add a show to your playlist and a recording is kept in the cloud, so you always need to be online to watch it.
They will also expire after a certain amount of time too.
