‘Survivor 47’ sneak peek video: Sam knows he’s in a ‘really tight spot,’ but he’s still ‘gonna fight’ [Watch]
In this week’s “Survivor 47” sneak peek video for Episode 12 (watch above), Sam Phalen opens up about his precarious position in the game. “Genevieve and I are in really tight spot, but this game is not over for us yet,” he says in reference to Genevieve Mushaluk, one of the two so-called “threats” in the game who are in danger of being voted out by the five-person “Underdogs” alliance.
Kyle Ostwald was sent home last week, which brought Sam and Genevieve’s dwindling numbers down to two. “Having Kyle was a really, really useful shield,” Sam states in a confessional. “But there’s really nothing I could have done. I was kind of powerless [at tribal council], because there is a posse of five players — Andy, Teeny, Rachel, Sue, and Caroline — picking off the big threats one at a time.”
Even though things look bad for the 24-year-old sports reporter from Nashville at the current moment, he tries to remain hopeful. “As long as I’m on this island, I’m gonna fight,” Sam tells the camera at the end of the clip.

Sam started out as a member of the yellow Gata tribe, where he and Sierra Wright were essentially calling the shots as they tagged along Andy Rueda and Rachel LaMont. But now, Andy and Rachel are in the power positions as they’re sitting pretty in a dominant alliance that plans on booting Sam and Genevieve next because they’ve been deemed as too strong physically and socially, respectively.
