I’m A Celeb fans claim show is ‘throwing shade’ at Dean McCullough as Ant and Dec make savage digs
I’M A Celebrity fans accused show bosses of “throwing shade” at evicted Dean McCullough tonight by revisiting a Bushtucker Trial he failed at.
Oti Mabuse bravely tackled The Sinister Sarcophagus: The Mummy returns, winning eight out of nine stars for camp – six more than Dean did earlier in the series.
The big Egyptian production finally got the screen time it deserved and hosts Ant and Dec couldn’t resist reminding viewers of how well Oti did compared to her campmate.
After she won her second star, Ant told Oti: “This is where Dean called I’m A Celebrity, do you feel like calling I’m A Celebrity? No, moving on.”
Dec then said: “Round three, already better than Dean.”
Viewers were amused, with one writing on X: “Big fan of the show’s producers throwing shade at Dean by doing this trial again so we can see it done properly.”
Another said: “Omg they did not recycle a trial Dean called I’m a celebrity on #ImACeleb.”
A third wrote: “Them straight up using the same trial because Dean did none of it.”
Oti’s performance was far more stoic than Dean’s and when she finished she described it as a “nightmare” and joked: “I can’t be demure right now!”
Radio 1 star Dean was visibly shaken when he squeezed his head into an insect-filled box to retrieve stars for the camp with his mouth.
Ant and Dec asked him a series of Egypt-related questions and for every one he answered correctly, a star was lowered down.
He told the presenters: “You’re so extra this series, so extra!’ before adding: “I went to Egypt years ago, but I wasn’t paying attention.”
Dean had to release the stars using only his mouth, however, he quickly began to panic.
Within moments, he was shouting: “oh no, oh no”.
He then screamed the famous words: “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!”

MAURA Higgins is a late entry to I'm A Celeb 2024. Yet who is joining her?
2019 Love Island star Maura, 33, will be a late entry to the jungle line-up.
She will head into the I’m A Celeb camp, along with the Reverend Richard Coles, 62.
The duo will join the likes of Coleen Rooney, Barry McGuigan and Danny Jones in Ant and Dec’s jungle camp a week into this year’s star-spangled series.
Yet initially the duo will have their own private base – and a secret mission – before heading into the main compound Down Under.
Maura has already described the jungle as “hell.”
Meanwhile Richard, who has starred on Strictly, has confessed his biggest “fear.”
