Mum with eight-month-old baby shot at by gunman while they sat at home
A mum and her eight-month-hold baby came inches away from death after they were shot at while at Huddersfield home.
The two were at home in the living room when they heard a loud noise and saw their window had ‘exploded’ in Bridge Croft, Milnsbridge.
She had only just moved her baby boy from the sofa to a high chair when the suspect fired at their home as they cycled past on November 22.
The bullet was lodged in the unnamed mother’s double-glazed windows, she told The Yorkshire Post.
‘I could not believe it, that it happened to my house and to my kids,’ the mum said.
‘I was shocked and scared because I had my eight-month-old here.’
Both the mother and her baby were unharmed, with armed officers deployed to the scene.
A man has been arrested in connection to the incident and has been released on bail. Officers confirmed the damage to the window was consistent with a gunshot.
The mum’s lounge window remains boarded up and she hopes to move out as soon as possible.
Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson said: ‘The criminal use of firearms on our streets is always something we treat extremely seriously, and we are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and to identify those responsible.
‘We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed any part of the incident or who saw the suspect arriving at or leaving the scene on a bicycle.
‘We recognise that an incident such as this will cause understandable concern in the community, and we are working closely with our colleagues at Kirklees District to provide suitable reassurance.’
