Shock blunder as I’m A Celeb’s GK Barry accidentally announces Richard Coles’ partner has ‘passed on’
I’M a Celebrity’s GK Barry suffered a shock blunder while reading out Rev Richard Cole’s letter from home.
Last night’s episode of I’m a Celebrity saw the campmates receive notes from their loved ones read by one of their co-stars.
GK was in charge of reading Richard’s letter from home[/caption] A pause in the wrong place meant he got a very different message[/caption] Luckily Richard saw the funny side to GK’s hiccup[/caption]The main show had Loose Women star GK, 25, deliver the words to Richard, 62, without the hiccup.
But a clip on Unpacked revealed her referencing Richard’s parner, saying: “Finally, Dickie has passed on…”
She then appeared to pause while reading the rest of the letter, earning some worried looks from their co-stars.
Richard luckily saw the funny side and the entire camp were left in hysterics.
GK said: “Let me re-read that. Dickie has passed on, ‘I’m remembering to keep your socks away from the fire’.”
In 2019 Richard suffered the loss of his long-term partner Rev David Coles.
The couple had been in a civil partnership for 12 years at the time of David’s death.
But in 2023 Richard revealed he’d found love again with Richard ‘Dickie’ Cant.
Speaking about his new relationship at the time, Richard told The Argus: “The big personal news is that I’ve met someone and am now in a relationship, which is lovely.
“We met just before Christmas – it was my first go on a dating app and it’s worked very well.
“He’s lovely, he’s kind, funny, thoughtful, interesting – and he likes me.”
While in the jungle Richard opened up about his relationship with Dickie, and confessed to Sun columnist Jane Moore one of the reasons why it works.
He said: “Whenever I’ve been away or if I’m going away, Dickie always gives me a day’s grace.
“Because I just need to come home. And stuff away, sit on my own and watch telly.“
